Network Art is a multi-disciplinary and collective digital art project, with a shifting geographic dimension. It allows an exploration outside the elitist art view and society, beyond the individual identity and success research, ordinary widespread in the occidental world. The creation process involves different kind of people, professionnal or amateurs, from different social and cultural origins.

CREATIVE PROCESS PRESENTATION

It consists of experimenting together by successive interventions on common medias/materials or surfaces, in both virtual (web) and real space.

1. Virtual space applications

- Virtual sery

The participants are working remotely, using technological tools to compose together sucessively. They use the Internet to send their native files to someone else who can acts in his turn on it.
For example, you receive a picture from somebody, it is the first step of the sery. You can alter it by adding a picture, a drawing, a sound element, a video sample, whatever you want. This second step will be used by someone else and transformed anyway. Several variations of this remotly-made artworks could be experimented in real space.

- Infinite Network

 The idea is to use a graphic interface online, to have a global view on the different steps realised and be able to act from a special point. To create massive structures where every step content's is downloadable as a folder wich contains the different associated files you need. Then, used and modified, it's possible to upload directly a proposition, and to generate a new step in the structure. Different exponential structures will be developed. They could be hierarchical (tree-structures) or not (multi-center...). A BIG challenge for web developers ! It's also a way to explore different social organisations systems, to understand how the structures interact on our exchanges.

2. Real space applications

The virtual creations can be derived in the real space : printed, performed, adapted in video projection, installations... Different crossings could be experienced during the future manifestations and workshops. It's also possible to adapt the creative process in different conditions while we act collectively, by successive actions on a common space or medium.

NWK SPIRIT

This project is engaged to propose an alternative to the generalised merchandisation of life and human productions. We are part of the subculture, we look forward to contribute to autonomous projects, acting in alternative spaces, cultural centers ... We are interested in developping solidar economic system based on donations and equitable repartitions between the participants.
We want to open a dialog, through our explorations, and build bridges for a better recognition of different possibilities and ways to reappropriate our spaces, lifes, and develop ourselves in creation without adversity. Art and politic action are definitely linked for us, culture should be accessible, and everybody is encouraged to explore hir potential.

We refuse the restrictive view on humans being only economical actors and consumers. We act against the isolation, the increasing individualism and its antagonisms. We hope to involve everyone in a non-hierarchical relation, to feel a single and important part of the society whatever sHe does, providing a complete and public access to informations. To make everyone responsible, consious of hir potentials and action possibilities, and to encourage them to explore it. We consider inaction like a choice and not a submission. Nobody will say to somebody else what sHe has to do. Feel free to contribute anyway. 
It belongs to anybody to make a proposition of event, to find around what he needs and share his experience to help the others contributers.

Beyond aesthetic critics and values judgement.

We are not here to make a demonstration of self-creativity, but to compose with little things, spontaneously with fun. Usually, people interested in creation, have a lot of unfinished projects, forgotten in a corner, which are waiting to be further developed and to start to exist. So now, you know what to do with ;) Enjoy to not have to give a result, or be confronted to values judgement.
Randomness is an important element, the wish to not control everything. The results could be really unsightly, we can also see an unexpected sense, or symbiosis appears in this dialog. The things are dying somewhere in this structure and are living somewhere else. Take it easy and play!

We invite the participants to not try to give indications which can influenced the people they are working with. It's possible to create "thematical" artworks on proposition. We believe in interactions, collective emulation and progression.
Nothing happens without the intervention of the other one, even this one seems insignificant.

It's an important issue to materialised the pieces made remotly and allow participant to meet in different point of the world. The transition between virtual and real space will be reported to show you more concrets examples and prototypes of the different sides of this project.

Our vision of the collective allow anybody to organise an event in his place, while sHe respects the participants, quoting them, and our copyleft conditions.

COPYLEFT - FREE ART License

Network art deals with copyleft licenses. We concentrate our reflection on creation relatively to social issues, beyond private and intellectual property. All the contents provided can be used by anyone and diffuse respecting the copyleft license for a NON MERCHAND use.
Nobody can use a piece in his name without quoting all the people implicated. Don't worry, we had already think a system to do it when a lot of people are involved.
Nobody can use any piece for his own profit. Every participant engage himself subscribing to the collective. We are searching for some jurists and free licenses expert to help us to create our  own one. For now, we are orientated in the "free art license" and the creative common license "Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike"

OUR DEVELOPPMENT

All stays to be done today. We would like to develop this project through 2 axes :
- To develop a web-platform and tools to work collectively online, from different places, and show our realisations online.
- To develop manifestations, performances and workshops.
- To develop the community and a core-working-group. We are currently searching for some specific skills, and to form a little group composed of a few people from different practices to made representative prototypes, and a reflexion group about the economical development process to allow us, not to be rich but to developp performing webtools, buy servers, finance the initiatives.
In the future we hope to have a lot of people involved around the world to make their own experiments with groups in their country, to multiplicate our connections and meetings across the frontiers, and developp ourselves perspectives by concrete experiences. School of life kids, creative and non-conformist minds, you're welcome !

WEB DEVELOPMENT

A major development work is to be done, we are still interested to receive crazy web-developers’ help! We are oriented in free technologies and development tools. If you know some linux developpers, we would be proud te meet.
For now, we will try to present the different structures and series in this blog making first prototypes.

BERLIN NETWORK 2010

Currently based in Berlin, we'd like to experiment in a little group with different practices especially in hauss-projekts and alternative cultural spaces!
All suggestions are welcome, we can help to "digitalise" your ideas if you want to experiment with us !
We hope to have nice experiences, meetings, and perform in this city next year.
